Flyfishers Anonymous

Flyfishers Anonymous is a small, Outfitter owned business that provides guided fishing and sightseeing tours on some of Montana’s most beautiful and renowned rivers.  In business since 1996 we have helped to create countless fond memories for fishermen and fisherwomen of all ages and skill levels.  So whether you’ve been flyfishing since the last  ice age or it’s your first time, we can provide instruction and assistance so that you may better enjoy your time on the water.  All trips are hosted by Willis Station.  We cater to small groups of 1-8 persons and hire only licensed, insured, local, professional guides.   We can custom tailor trips to meet your needs and desires and provide all terminal tackle, even rods and reels if necessary.

 Beaverhead River

The Beaverhead River is a small tailwater fishery that flows from Clark Canyon reservoir 20 miles south of Dillon.  Because it is dam controlled the water stays clear and cold year round.  Conditions are near ideal for trout and a variety of aquatic insects are present.  The primary method of fishing this river is with nymphs, but we also experience some amazing dry fly fishing mostly in the months of June and July.  The river is inhabited by both Brown and Rainbow trout  as well as a few whitefish.  The upper river is open from the third Saturday  in May until November 30 and there really isn’t a bad time of year to come.

 Bighole River

The Big Hole River is a freestone river.  Its waters flow from high in the Pioneer Mountains  and are controlled solely by Mother Nature.  As a result, flows are widely variable and the river is not always fishable.   It is renowned for its dry fly fishing especially the Salmon fly hatch in  mid-June after the Spring floods.  Good dry fly fishing will  persist throughout the summer months ending with the Trico hatch in September.  In October the Browns will begin to spawn and become very aggressive and vulnerable to anglers.  We catch them mostly on streamers and egg patterns during this time.  It is in October that we experience some of the biggest and best fish to offer.  Angling pressure is traditionally low during this very special time of year so it is possible to get away from the crowd.  Fishing is also very good in April and May prior to spring floods with a Mother’s Day Caddis hatch as well as a Skwala hatch.  The Big Hole is home to four species of trout as well as the last native population of fluvial Arctic Grayling in the lower 48 states
